 Coaching News

Paul Bird has committed to Coach (4 at present CAC athletes, Luke Murray, Steve James, Laura Crocker & Mark Drewitt), providing extra guidance, mentoring and very specific schedules (so that they peak correctly to achieve their race goals). He is hoping to increase this number over time. This also has a commitment for them to follow and is specificly based on realistic goals taking into account other commitments that they have.  He can not do this for everyone at present, although he will help all of you as much as possible to reach your potential.

CAC now have four Leaders in running fitness on-board (Andy Heyes, Nick Hides, Hayley Marriot & Helen Ball) so this will also improve the training and hopefully provide some variation to keep things fresh. This will be developed over the next few months and then further through this year.

Paul can provide anyone specific training info (if someone contacts me prior: Tel 07774 965370 or work email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ), and will try and make himself available at Strode (from 18:30) before either the Tuesday or Thursday club sessions. This coaching clinic has started and at present he has seen half a dozen people before the sessions start, so this will continue as a service.

He can provide training schedules to all; but to make these specific he will need you to send him the following info (click here - CAC Macrocycle General 2012)  Please print off the form, filling in the yellow boxes then return by email if possible to Paul directly.

At this stage only complete if you need help and you have goals in the first 16 weeks of this year, week 16 is the London Marathon as a guide.

Clevedon Athletic Club is a thriving and friendly running club, based on the North Somerset coast-line 12 miles from the City of Bristol.

Formed in May 1977, we have gone from strength to strength and are now a major force to be reckoned with in the South West regularly producing notable success on the road as well as team achievements in Relays and Cross Country leagues.

Catering for all ages and abilities, we also have a dedicated Junior Section for boys and girls from the age of 10 upwards, and a Beginners Section for Seniors.

Club training nights are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the year, meeting at Clevedon’s Strode Leisure Centre, as well as structured sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

We have organised the prestigious Clevedon 4 Mile Boxing Day Race since 1977 which now attracts 1,000 competitors, as well as the Midsummer 10K and the North Somerset Road Relay.

The Club holds many experienced and qualified Coaches who can assist in personal training development to enable members to reach their full potential.

Our aim is to promote an enjoyable and rewarding interest in athletics for runners of all abilities in a safe and friendly team environment.

We have a strong social side at Clevedon AC where the emphasis is not always about running!.......come along and see for yourself, new members are always welcome; contact any of the committee for further details.
